Developing XR Talent to Support Local Industries — STYLY Launches New “Business Course” at YAMAGATA XR SCHOOL, Now Recruiting for its Second Term

Tokyo-based STYLY, Inc. (Shinjuku, Tokyo; hereafter “STYLY”), provider of the Spatial Layer Platform, has opened applications for the second term of YAMAGATA XR SCHOOL powered by Yamagata Real Metaverse Lab, a practical training program designed to nurture XR professionals.

Building on its mission to cultivate talent capable of taking on global challenges from Yamagata, YAMAGATA XR SCHOOL returns this year with an expanded curriculum. For its second term, the school has introduced a new Business Course, created in collaboration with local companies, with hands-on programs tailored to local industries.

Background of the Initiative

STYLY has long worked with local governments, creators, and businesses to promote XR-driven initiatives for building attractive industries and sustainable cities. In August 2023, the company entered into a partnership agreement with Yamagata Prefecture, launching industry–academia–government collaboration projects aimed at addressing the shortage of digital talent and strengthening the digital sector.

As part of this effort, the company launched YAMAGATA XR SCHOOL powered by Yamagata Real Metaverse Lab, fostering creators in Yamagata through XR technology and generating new value across diverse fields, including entertainment, tourism, advertising, education, and architecture.

Going forward, STYLY will continue cultivating talent capable of delivering rich experiences anywhere, while further advancing regional co-creation projects.

The Second Year: Deepening and Expanding Learning

The first term focused on making XR more approachable. This year, the program takes a step further, offering a practical curriculum that spans from ideation and design to production and the potential for real-world implementation.

Creator Course: Participants will produce original XR works using tools such as STYLY’s new feature, STYLY World Canvas, with additional Unity basics to expand creative expression.

Business Course: Participants will learn end-to-end—from analyzing the latest case studies to planning and proposing projects applicable to their own companies or communities. Local companies will once again serve as theme owners, ensuring highly practical outputs.

Now in its second year, the program has evolved into a more hands-on initiative. Watch as creators from Yamagata generate innovations with global impact.
