STYLY SELECTED AS A HOST FOR HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL IMMERSIVE FIELD COURSE for the Third Consecutive Year

STYLY recently had the opportunity to host a group of students from Harvard Business School  as part of the School’s Immersive Field Course (IFC) for the Third Consecutive Year. IFC courses are designed to offer students in the second year of the 2-year program an experiential learning opportunity in an off-campus setting.

Researching LBE(Location-Based Entertainment) market trends and proposing opportunities for deployment.

This year over 285 students elected to take the course, a cornerstone of which is the expertise of faculty, who develop course content focused on teaching objectives met primarily through student-centered active learning opportunities, which can include project work, site visits, speakers, and participating in discussions with senior leadership. These students are typically in their late 20’s and have an average of 5 years of work experience in a range of fields including finance, real estate, consulting, healthcare, military, technology etc.

This year’s project theme focused on Location-Based Entertainment (LBE). Building on real-world LBE case studies developed by STYLY as well as current market trends, the program provided students with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of immersive experience businesses within urban spaces and venue-based environments.

As concrete examples of LBE initiatives leveraging XR technologies, STYLY introduced projects such as “THE MOON CRUISE,” a VR experience that allows users to virtually travel to space, and “ULTRA EXPERIENCE PERFORMANCE TOUR,” an immersive showcase experience. Through these case studies, students engaged not only in hands-on immersive experiences but also in in-depth discussions from the perspectives of business viability, operations, and scalability.

Throughout the project, students analyzed the challenges and potential of LBE from their respective viewpoints, and on the final day, they presented innovative proposals for new XR-driven LBE deployments.

Masahiro Yamaguchi, STYLY’s CEO, commented “We are pleased to be working with Harvard Business School to provide students with a real-world learning experience in STYLY. We  feel certain that the students were able to gather insights here that they would never be able to glean from a classroom discussion alone.”

Harvard Business School is quick to acknowledge that this important learning experience would not be possible without the support and engagement of our hosts and partners.

“We are extremely grateful to STYLY and all the host organizations around the world for all they do on behalf of our students,” said Professor Ramon Casadesus-Masanell, who led the group. “The students benefit immeasurably from this experience and we hope the host organizations do as well.”
